Current projects
Finishing the work on a couple of sites, to clean up some formatting things and reaction to Dark Mode clients. I also have an ongoing number of projects to keep the house in shape and ideas for future plans.
Currently Reading
This is a table of the currently on-the-go books that I am some way through:
| The Age of Surveillance Capitalism | Shoshana Zuboff |
| The Eye of the Master | Matteo Pasquinelli |
| Cyberselfish | Paulina Borsook |
| Cyberlibertarianism | David Golumbia |
| Writing to Learn | William Zinsser |
| Introduction to Digital Humanism | Hannes Werthner |
| The Alignment Problem | Brian Christian |
| Digital Empires | Anu Bradford |
| The Grapes of Wrath | John Steinbeck |
2026 appears to have a good twenty or so books in the pipeline. I would hope to read them all.
Social Media
I have reduced all social media presence to Mastodon only and I have implemented restrictions to ensure I don’t spend more time than is necessary on the app / site. Similarly, I have made a conscious effort to subscribe to YouTube channels using an RSS reader to ensure that I alone have control of what I see. Discovery is limited like this, but that is a good thing.
Photos
I have over 10K photos on Flickr, in breach of the free account limits (it never used to be), so I have requested a download of all my photos. Flickr still haven’t replied or sent me a download link, so they can get stuffed for the time being. I have local copies of all the originals and backed them up.
I’m still thinking of hosting them somewhere but I want to avoid another service for obvious reasons. micro.blog doesn’t look like it is an appropriate service to host and organise this type of phot library.
I bought a tripod mount for an iPhone to try to take a few photos using it as I wait for a camera repair to complete. I’m not sure how it’ll turn out, but I’m hopeful it can be fruitful.
